I am buying a £400,000 home, do I have to pay stamp duty?

When buying a property which costs over £300,000 you have to pay stamp duty to the goverment. For properties up to £500,000, 5% is paid on the portion from £300,001 to £500,000. So on a £400,000 home £5,000 stamp duty will have to be paid (5% of £100,000).
