Basic Rate Taxpayer

Someone who earns between £11,850 and £46,350 income a year. They pay 20% tax on this bracket of income and 0% on earnings below £11,851. You can find out more about income tax here.

Bonds

A type of investment where the investor makes a loan over a defined period of time to a company, government or any other institution and receives regular interest payments. The loan can be sold to another investor before it expires, for example if another investor likes the terms of the loan and rate of interest payments, they may choose to take on the loan midway through it's term.
